The Ottawa Senators have probably played well enough this season to
justify standing pat at the trade deadline. On Tuesday, they met their opposite, a Calgary Flames team that has already blown up nearly one-third of its roster.
The result was typical, if not predictable — the Senators did enough to win yet another close game, and the Flames just enough to lose.
The Flames checked into Ottawa about a week after moving former cornerstone defenceman, Dion Phaneuf, among others, in two blockbuster deals with Eastern teams that netted the Flames six players.
